Ministry of Information and Culture Holds Seminar on Journalists’ Professional and Intellectual Development in Laghman

The Ministry of Information and Culture’s Deputy Ministry for Publications Affairs, in cooperation with the Laghman Provincial Department of Information and Culture, held a one-day seminar in Laghman to discuss the professional, intellectual and religious responsibilities of journalists and writers.
The seminar, held at the public library, was attended by Deputy Minister for Publications Affairs Mawlawi Muhajir Farahi, Head of the Mass Media Monitoring Department Mawlawi Safiullah Raed, local officials, university lecturers, journalists and writers.
Opening the seminar, Mawlawi Abdul Noor Rasouli, Director of Information and Culture in Laghman, welcomed the participants and highlighted the important role of journalists and writers in shaping public opinion, countering hostile propaganda and promoting unity among the public. He urged media professionals to fulfil their responsibilities with commitment and a strong sense of purpose.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Minister Mawlawi Muhajir Farahi spoke about the Islamic Emirate’s achievements over the past five years and its efforts to rebuild and develop the country. He noted that many countries that are now developed had once faced considerable challenges but had advanced through hard work and sustained effort.
Farahi stressed that media organisations should report accurately, publish factual information and refrain from disseminating false or misleading content or material that contravenes established principles. He reaffirmed the Ministry of Information and Culture’s support for media organisations and journalists. He also called on journalists and writers to counter propaganda aimed at discrediting the Islamic Emirate, stating that all segments of society, including former government officials, were safe.
Mawlawi Safiullah Raed, Head of the Mass Media Monitoring Department, along with local officials and university lecturers, also spoke about the journalism profession and the responsibilities of media professionals. The speakers described the current global environment as one of ideological and information-based confrontation, noting that countries use the media to advance their national interests and support their political systems. They emphasised that defending the Islamic Emirate and Afghanistan was a religious responsibility.
The speakers also highlighted the need for educational programmes and seminars focusing on religious awareness, intellectual development and reform. They noted that people had continued their efforts despite limited resources in the past and urged journalists and writers to make effective use of available opportunities to shape public opinion and strengthen their role in the media.
At the close of the seminar, participants welcomed the initiative and called for further training programmes to enhance the professional, intellectual and religious awareness of journalists and writers.
