Handicrafts and Cultural Exhibition Opens in Herat to celebrate Tourism Week
The Herat Department of Information and Culture, in collaboration with the Turkish Cooperation and Development Agency (TİKA), has inaugurated a seven-day exhibition of handicrafts and cultural artworks at the historic Ikhtiyaruddin Citadel to celebrate Tourism Week.
Mawlawi Ahmadullah Muttaqi, the Director of Information and Culture, stated that the exhibition features over 100 stalls showcasing handicrafts and artistic works created by both male and female artisans. He noted that this initiative aims to support local craftsmen and artists, strengthen regional culture, and promote tourism development.
As part of the exhibition, 50 photographs of Herat’s most renowned historical monuments and landmarks are also on display. These images introduce visitors and tourists to the province’s rich cultural and historical legacy, highlighting the unique architectural and artistic heritage that reflects Herat’s long-standing civilization.
Visitors have welcomed the event, emphasizing that the promotion of historical monuments and handicrafts not only preserves cultural values but also enhances local industry and production. They added that such initiatives play a vital role in attracting both domestic and international investors and tourists, contributing to Herat’s economic growth and cultural recognition.
