As part of its ongoing efforts to regulate and improve urban signage, the Signage and Advertising Reform Commission of the Ministry of Information and Culture conducted a thorough inspection of public billboards and advertisements in Kabul’s Sixth Municipal District, specifically in the Alaudin Square area.

The head of the Commission’s Field Committee, Qari Wali Gul Jawad, engaged directly with local shopkeepers, business owners, and residents to raise awareness about the importance of standardizing signage in accordance with national linguistic and cultural values. He emphasized the significance of the Commission’s work in promoting a more organized and culturally respectful urban environment.

During the visit, Mr. Jawad provided detailed explanations regarding the objectives, procedures, and long-term vision of the signage reform initiative. In collaboration with community members, the Commission identified and removed several non-compliant signs and proposed suitable alternative terms to replace any linguistically or culturally inappropriate language.

Local shopkeepers, business owners, and residents expressed their appreciation for the Commission’s efforts, describing the initiative as a meaningful step towards preserving Afghanistan’s national languages and cultural identity. They assured full cooperation in supporting the Commission’s goals and welcomed ongoing collaboration to enhance public awareness and compliance.
