Capacity-Building Seminar Held for Journalists, Media Officials and Youth in Nuristan
The Deputy Ministry for Publications Affairs of the Ministry of Information and Culture, in cooperation with the Nuristan Provincial Department of Information and Culture, held a one-day capacity-building seminar in Nuristan for hundreds of journalists, media officials, writers, cultural activists and young people.
The seminar aimed to strengthen participants’ intellectual, ideological and professional capacities and address the challenges facing journalists and media workers.
The seminar was attended by Mawlawi Muhajir Farahi, Deputy Minister for Publications Affairs; Qari Zain al-Abidin Abid, Governor of Nuristan; Mawlawi Najibullah Hanif, Director of Information and Culture in Nuristan; several ministry directors; and local officials.
Speaking at the seminar, Mawlawi Najibullah Hanif highlighted the important role of journalists and writers in society. He said they contributed to progress and self-reliance and played an important role in national development and shaping public opinion.
Mawlawi Muhajir Farahi said Afghanistan was making progress in various sectors. He noted that developments achieved over the past five years demonstrated the Islamic Emirate’s determination to develop and rebuild the country. He also spoke about the Islamic Emirate’s achievements, including the end of the occupation, the protection of people’s lives and property, and the general amnesty. He called on the public to work together for the country’s development.
Nuristan Governor Qari Zain al-Abidin Abid described the current Islamic system as a great blessing from Allah Almighty. He said Muslims had a responsibility to be grateful for this blessing, safeguard it and follow its principles. He also emphasized that security was essential for social stability, progress, education, economic growth and public well-being, noting that maintaining security was a shared responsibility.
Mawlawi Safiullah Raed, Director of Mass Media Monitoring at the Deputy Ministry for Publications Affairs, along with provincial officials and university lecturers, discussed the principles of journalism, media responsibilities and the importance of professional standards in journalistic work.
The speakers said such seminars helped strengthen journalists’ professional capacities, promote intellectual development and provide an opportunity to hear and address the challenges facing media workers.
They also encouraged writers, authors and journalists to introduce Nuristan’s natural beauty and distinctive features to wider audiences, helping attract both domestic and foreign tourists.
Participants welcomed the seminar and called for similar programmes to be held in the future.
