Coordination Meeting Held with Media Executives and Journalists Ahead of 24 Asad Commemorations

A coordination meeting with media executives and journalists was held at the Government Media and Information Center under the chairmanship of Mr. Mohajer Farahi, Deputy Minister for Publications at the Ministry of Information and Culture. The meeting was attended by Mawlawi Hamdullah Fitrat, Deputy Spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate; Mawlawi Enam-ul-Haq Haqqani, Director of the Government Media and Information Center; Mawlawi Ahmadullah Wasiq, Director General of Physical Education and Sports; and a number of officials from the Ministry.
Addressing the meeting, Mr. Farahi stated that the Islamic Emirate has made extensive preparations across the country to mark 24 Asad and called on all journalists to make every effort to ensure comprehensive media coverage of the commemorative events.
He further noted that, during the observance of 24 Asad, media organizations and journalists should produce a range of programmes highlighting the achievements made over the past five years, as well as the oppression and atrocities committed during the previous twenty years of occupation. He said such coverage would help inform both the Afghan public and the international community of the country's achievements, while also raising awareness among the younger generation about the injustices and hardships experienced during that period.
Mr. Farahi also reaffirmed that the Ministry of Information and Culture fully supports both state-owned and private media outlets. He urged journalists to provide comprehensive coverage of what he described as the Pakistani military regime's harmful and inappropriate actions against the Afghan people.
Mawlawi Hamdullah Fitrat, Deputy Spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate; Mawlawi Enam-ul-Haq Haqqani, Director of the Government Media and Information Center; and Mawlawi Ahmadullah Wasiq, Director General of Physical Education and Sports, also addressed the gathering. They offered guidance to media executives and journalists, stating that Afghanistan is the shared homeland of all Afghans and that safeguarding the country, the Islamic system, and public opinion is a collective responsibility. They added that, given the Islamic Emirate's significant achievements across various sectors over the past five years, media organizations and journalists should make every effort to highlight these accomplishments and produce and broadcast diverse programmes during the 24 Asad commemorations.
The speakers expressed appreciation for the efforts of media executives and journalists and emphasized that all Emirate institutions remain fully committed to cooperating with the media and supporting journalists in carrying out their professional responsibilities.
Speaking on behalf of the media representatives and journalists, several participants thanked the organizers for convening the meeting. They described 24 Asad as an important day for all Afghans and stated that providing comprehensive media coverage of the commemorative events, as well as producing programmes on what they described as the oppression and atrocities committed by the occupying forces during the previous twenty years, is a responsibility shared by the media.
During the meeting, media executives and journalists also presented their views on strengthening media coverage of the 24 Asad commemorations and shared a number of proposals and requests with the officials. The officials assured participants that the recommendations put forward would receive due consideration.
