Deputy Minister of Publications Meets with Publishing Association Representatives
On Monday, 25th of Muharram 1447 AH, Acting Minister of Information and Culture and Deputy Minister for Publications, Mr. Muhajir Farahi, met with representatives of publishing associations at his office.
During the meeting, Abdulwodood Mukhtarzada, speaking on behalf of the publishing associations, expressed appreciation for the Ministry’s support of books and publishers. He specifically thanked the leadership and the Publications Department for their efforts in securing tax exemptions and reductions on book publishing.
The publishers also requested increased media attention for books and reading. They shared plans to organize a multi-day book exhibition under the banner of publishing associations shortly.
Mr. Muhajir Farahi assured the representatives of ongoing support and cooperation. He mentioned that, along with the new marketplace being built in the Cinema Pamir area, there are additional plans to assist publishers and booksellers, which will be addressed in the future.
It is worth noting that, a few days ago, the Esteemed Amir al-Mu’minin (may Allah protect him) issued a decree exempting books printed within Afghanistan from tax entirely and reducing the import tax on books from abroad by 50%.
