Deputy Minister of Art and Culture Leads Official Delegation to Bamiyan Province
Mawlawi Atiqullah Azizi, Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture at the Ministry of Information and Culture, visited Bamiyan Province, accompanied by Engineer Haseebullah Naseemi, Director of Historical Monuments, and a team of professionals.
The delegation met with the Governor of Bamiyan and the Provincial Director of Information and Culture. They discussed strengthening the province’s historical monuments, safeguarding ancient sites, and preserving the historic city.
Governor Mawlawi Abdullah Sarhadi added that protecting Bamiyan’s cultural heritage is vital to the national and international legacy. He stressed the need for practical steps and close coordination with relevant institutions to preserve these sites.
Meanwhile, Qari Saeed Mustafa Saleh, Provincial Director of Information and Culture, presented the deputy minister and his delegation with a detailed briefing on Bamiyan’s cultural and media landscape.
The delegation also visited ongoing preservation projects at key heritage sites, including Shahr-e-Zohak, Shahr-e-Gholghola, the Buddha niches, and several other historic locations. Deputy Minister Azizi highlighted that these projects not only play a crucial role in protecting Bamiyan’s historical identity but also create opportunities to attract international tourists.
He further emphasized that Afghanistan’s ancient heritage is a shared treasure of human civilization and called for stronger international cooperation to ensure its protection.
