Books on (Islamic Economics) and (Fundamental Islamic Beliefs) Reviewed at Ministry
The Directorate of Public Libraries, under the Deputy Ministry for Arts and Culture of the Ministry of Information and Culture, in cooperation with the Azan Translation Society, held a review session for the books (Islamic Economics) and (Fundamental Islamic Beliefs) at the Directorate’s conference hall. The session was attended by Minister of Information and Culture Sheikh Sher Ahmad Haqqani.
Speaking at the event, Sheikh Haqqani highlighted the value of the two books, the importance of reading and the need to promote a reading culture among young people.
Referring to Islamic beliefs, Islamic economics, Western economics and socialist economics, the Minister said that faith is a fundamental component of Islam and the foundation upon which all human actions are based.
He said that during the past 20 years, occupying forces had sought to influence public thinking through negative propaganda and the spread of false ideas. According to the Minister, some people with weak religious beliefs had been influenced by such propaganda and placed material interests above religious values. Others, however, remained steadfast in their faith, resisted the occupiers' propaganda, and took part in resistance and jihad against the occupation, ultimately achieving victory through the support and assistance of Almighty Allah.
Sheikh Haqqani said that the Western economic system was based on arrangements in which the economic interests of some were secured through injustice and the violation of others' rights. By contrast, he said, Islamic economics considers the rights and interests of all members of society and attaches particular importance to economic justice.
He also stressed that moderation and balance were central principles of Islamic economics.
The Minister further referred to the book Aqidah Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah, authored by the country's leadership (may Allah preserve him), and urged participants to read it alongside other books on Islamic beliefs and share their contents with others.
Meanwhile, Director of Public Libraries Dr Rafiullah Samim, Azan Translation Society representative Mawlawi Zia-ul-Haq Hassan and other speakers discussed various aspects of the two books' contents. They described their publication as an important need of society.
The speakers also encouraged participants to devote more time to reading and make greater efforts to promote a reading culture.
