The Minister of Information and Culture Meets with the Human Rights Representative from the UNAMA Office

The Minister of Information and Culture, Sheikh Sher Ahmad Haqqani, held a meeting with Ms. Fiona Frazer, the Human Rights Representative of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), and her delegation in his office.

During the meeting, they discussed the media situation in Afghanistan, human rights, and the protection of historical monuments. Ms. Fiona Frazer highlighted that the Ministry of Information and Culture’s efforts in the media sector have improved. She noted that issues faced by journalists are being addressed promptly and that access to information has been facilitated. Ms. Frazer emphasized the importance of continuing sustainable support for the media.

She also praised the recent decrees issued by Amir al-Mu’minin (may Allah protect him) regarding the protection of human rights, describing them as positive steps and constructive measures in safeguarding these rights. Additionally, she mentioned that investigations are ongoing into the recent attack on the rehabilitation hospital for addicts.

In response, the Minister of Information and Culture affirmed the Ministry's full support for the media in accordance with the law. He stated that they maintain continuous coordination with media outlets based on established principles and are actively working to improve the economic situation of the media to address existing challenges.

He also noted that all leadership decrees aimed at benefiting society are intended for the betterment and success of the community, and he emphasized that women’s rights have been fully protected in these decrees, granting women their complete Islamic rights.
