The UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative met with the Minister of Information and Culture.

On Wednesday, 3 Rabi al-Awwal 1447 AH, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Ms. Roza Otunbayeva, held a farewell meeting with Alhaj Mullah Khairullah Khairkhwa, the Minister of Information and Culture.
During the meeting, Ms. Otunbayeva praised the ministry's cultural initiatives, particularly the recent Book Festival held in Kabul. She described such programs as essential for enlightening public opinion, especially in shaping the perspectives of the younger generation. She emphasized the importance of organizing these programs on an annual basis.
 Ms. Otunbayeva highlighted the significance of preserving Afghanistan’s cultural heritage, referring to the National Archives and the National Museum as invaluable treasures of the country’s history and identity. She reaffirmed the commitment of international partners, particularly UNESCO, to continue cooperating in safeguarding Afghanistan’s cultural heritage.
 Minister Alhaj Mullah Khairullah Khairkhwa emphasized the key achievements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan over the past four years, focusing on combating narcotics, eliminating administrative corruption, and restoring national security. He noted that for the first time in 45 years, Afghanistan has the stability provided by a strong, centralized governance system.
The minister further stressed that protecting and promoting Afghanistan’s cultural heritage remains a top priority for the ministry, affirming that these cultural assets represent not only the pride of the nation but also a shared legacy of humanity.
