He stressed that preserving this heritage goes beyond protecting historical objects; it is also essential to documenting the country’s past struggles and significant events and passing this historical record on to future generations.
The Minister of Information and Culture, the Director General of the General Directorate for the Preservation of Jihadi Heritage, and several local officials commended the Maidan Wardak Directorate of Information and Culture for its efforts to preserve jihadi heritage. They noted that these artefacts serve as lasting reminders of the sacrifices, commitment and bravery of those who took part in the struggle.
During the meeting, Mufti Mohammad Tahir Ahmad and Qari Ahmadullah Saeed Khosti outlined the provisions of the Law on the Preservation of Jihadi Heritage. They described its implementation as an important step towards identifying, documenting, and safeguarding historical materials related to the jihad era. They also called on participants to collect accounts of mujahideen’s experiences and achievements, along with biographical information about martyrs, from across Maidan Wardak province and submit the material to the Jihadi Heritage Preservation Department of the provincial Directorate of Information and Culture.
Mawlawi Habibullah Mujahid, Director of Information and Culture in Maidan Wardak, said Afghanistan had a proud history of jihad and that thousands of Afghans had made sacrifices in defense of the country and its independence.
