Historic Sword Donated to the National Museum
A historic sword was formally handed over to the National Museum by Habib Rahman Noori, a resident of Paktia Province, in the presence of Mawlawi Atiqullah Azizi, Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture at the Ministry of Information and Culture.
Mr. Noori said he inherited the sword from his grandfather, who guarded Amir Habibullah Khan. His grandfather used the sword against British forces.
Mr. Noori further noted that the sword has a historical legacy spanning more than one hundred years. He explained that he donated the artifact to promote a culture of preserving and donating historical objects to national institutions. He hopes to encourage others to entrust historically significant items in their possession to the museum for proper preservation. He emphasized that such efforts help safeguard the country’s historical heritage and ensure its transmission to future generations.
During the handover ceremony, Mawlawi Atiqullah Azizi, Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture, expressed his appreciation to Mr. Habib Rahman Noori for donating the historic sword to the National Museum. He also called upon citizens to cooperate closely with the Ministry of Information and Culture in identifying and preserving historical artifacts, so that these valuable cultural assets can be properly protected and passed on to future generations.
Meanwhile, officials of the National Museum reaffirmed their commitment to the safe preservation of historical artifacts. They stated that the sword belongs to the Islamic period and will be carefully safeguarded within the museum as an important historical object.
It is worth noting that Mr. Habib Rahman Noori had previously donated a historical statue to the National Museum as well.
