Mawlawi Atiqullah Azizi, Deputy Minister for Art and Culture at the Ministry of Information and Culture, led a delegation to visit recent initiatives carried out in the historic (Machine Khana) area of Kabul, as well as the constructed model of this area.
During the visit, Mr. Azizi emphasized that the country’s historical assets are not just reminders of the past, but living examples that preserve national identity for future generations. He stressed the importance of managing sites like Machine Khana to protect their historical significance while ensuring their meaningful use.
At the Kabul Machine Khana, the Aga Khan Cultural Foundation has organized exhibitions showcasing historical machinery, technical equipment, and artifacts related to the site, effectively illustrating Afghanistan’s industrial history. Additionally, a dedicated military museum has been established to display the historical evolution and development of military equipment.
Representatives from the Aga Khan Cultural Foundation highlighted their commitment to ongoing cooperation in the preservation of cultural heritage.
Moreover, during the visit, the Deputy Minister observed a new cultural model at the Machine Khana, created by talented Afghan youth with the support of the Aga Khan Cultural Foundation. This model thoughtfully and skillfully represents Kabul’s cultural, industrial, residential, and key infrastructural landmarks.
Mr. Azizi referred to the model as a significant historical innovation, regarding it as an important resource and guide for preserving the cultural identity and values of Kabul.
