Training Programme for Poets and Nasheed Reciters Held in Kandahar

A training programme for poets and nasheed reciters was held at the House of Ahmad Shah Baba in Kandahar through the joint efforts of the Ministry of Information and Culture’s Directorate of Tarannum and Nasheeds and the Kandahar Provincial Department of Information and Culture.
The programme was attended by Sheikh Abdul Rahman Tayebi, Deputy Minister for Arts and Culture; Mawlawi Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate; Mawlawi Amanullah Mustaghfir, Director of Tarannum and Nasheeds; Mawlawi Inamullah Samangani, Director of Information and Culture in Kandahar; Engineer Mohammad Hasib Nasimi, Director of Historical Monuments; local officials; and a large number of writers, poets and nasheed reciters.
Welcoming the participants, Mawlawi Inamullah Samangani described writers as a society’s intellectual and spiritual assets, stressing their important role in social reform. He said the leadership had included provisions in the Law on the Organisation of Poetry Gatherings that address both poets’ activities and the need to promote social reform.
Sheikh Abdul Rahman Tayebi thanked the Kandahar Provincial Department of Information and Culture and the Department for the Preservation of Historical Monuments for restoring the House of Ahmad Shah Baba and making it available for literary gatherings. He emphasised the influential role of writers and poets in improving society, urging them to highlight the system’s achievements so that the public could better understand their value.
Mawlawi Zabihullah Mujahid spoke about the restoration of the House of Ahmad Shah Baba and its historical significance. He noted that Ahmad Shah Baba was not only a prominent figure in Afghanistan’s history but also held a distinctive place in Sufism and literature. He stressed that his cultural and literary legacy should serve as a source of inspiration.
Mawlawi Amanullah Mustaghfir also offered guidance to the poets and nasheed reciters, urging them to fulfil their responsibilities in contributing to social reform.
The programme concluded with nasheed reciters from various districts of Kandahar Province performing nasheeds and tarannum for the participants.
