Qatari Ambassador Visits the National Archives of Afghanistan

On 4 Dhul-Hijjah 1447 AH, Dr. Murdif Al-Qashouti, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Afghanistan, made an official visit to the National Archives of the Ministry of Information and Culture.
Upon his arrival, Qari Obaidullah Hanif, the Director of the National Archives, provided an overview of the historical significance of the archive’s manuscript collections. He noted that the National Archives is one of Afghanistan’s most important cultural institutions, housing a rich collection of historical documents, rare manuscripts, and heritage artifacts that reflect the country’s diverse legacy.
Qari Hanif further emphasized that many of the archive’s manuscripts, historical records, and antiquities require professional conservation, restoration, and preservation. He highlighted the necessity of technical and institutional support to safeguard these invaluable cultural assets for future generations and called for increased cooperation from relevant organizations.
During the visit, Dr. Al-Qashouti expressed his appreciation for the National Archives’ efforts to preserve Afghanistan’s documentary and cultural heritage. He reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at the restoration and conservation of historical manuscripts and archival materials, pledging cooperation in preserving these important historical resources.
The visit was also attended by Mohammad Shafiq Ahmadzai, the Director of Foreign Relations and Cultural Attachés. Accompanied by Qari Hanif, Dr. Al-Qashouti toured various sections of the National Archives, where professional staff provided detailed briefings on the institution’s collections, preservation activities, and historically significant artifacts.
At the conclusion of the visit, both parties underscored the importance of strengthening cultural ties and expanding cooperation between Afghanistan and Qatar in the fields of cultural heritage preservation, archival development, and the protection of historical manuscripts and documents. They reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting sustainable cultural collaboration and preserving the region’s rich historical legacy.
