One-Day Capacity-Building Seminar Held in Logar for Journalists, Media Officials, Writers, Cultural Activists, and Youth
The Ministry of Information and Culture's Deputy Ministry of Publications Affairs, in cooperation with the Directorate of Information and Culture in Logar Province, organized a one-day training seminar titled *"Enhancing Intellectual, Ideological, and Professional Capacity"* for hundreds of journalists, media officials, writers, cultural activists, and young people.
The seminar was attended by Mohajer Farahi, Deputy Minister for Publications Affairs; Mawlawi Ahmadullah Zahid, Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce; a number of directors from both ministries; and representatives of local government institutions.
Opening the event, Mawlawi Sawab Jan Islamyar, Director of Information and Culture for Logar, welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of such programs in strengthening the professional capacity of journalists. He said that Logar's writers and cultural activists had played a significant role in media engagement and intellectual advocacy during the past two decades of foreign occupation, describing their contributions as commendable.
Addressing the seminar, Deputy Minister Mohajer Farahi discussed the role of the media and noted that many of the challenges previously facing the sector had now been resolved. He stated that it is the religious and national responsibility of media organizations, journalists, writers, mosque imams, tribal elders, and academics to communicate the decrees and directives of His Excellency the Amir al-Mu'minin (May Allah Protect Him) to the public.
Speaking at the event, Mawlawi Ahmadullah Zahid, Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce, said that fragmented systems of local rule no longer exist across the country and that a unified Islamic system now governs nationwide. He stressed the importance of appreciating this achievement and called on all citizens to fulfill their responsibilities in supporting stability, national development, and the continued strengthening of the system.
The seminar also featured presentations by Qari Hkubaib Ghufran, Director of Public Relations and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Information and Culture; Dr. Rafiullah Samim, Director of Public Libraries; Mawlawi Abdul Haq Hammad, Adviser to the Deputy Ministry of Publications Affairs; Khan Wali Ahmadzai, representing the journalists of Logar Province; and several provincial officials and university lecturers.
The participants discussed the fundamental principles of journalism and underscored the responsibilities of journalists, writers, cultural activists, and young people. They noted that decades of intellectual and cultural conflict have had a lasting impact on the public and emphasized that writers and intellectuals now carry an even greater responsibility to use their knowledge and writing to guide society toward a more positive and hopeful future.
They further emphasized that the progress and prosperity of the Islamic Ummah depend on educated youth and individuals equipped with knowledge, encouraging youth to pursue modern education alongside religious studies.
The speakers also offered recommendations to media managers, journalists, writers, cultural activists, and media professionals, emphasizing that meaningful intellectual engagement is one that contributes to the intellectual development of future generations. They added that the Ministry of Information and Culture remains firmly committed to supporting media organizations and journalists, citing the establishment of dozens of new media outlets across the country over the past year as a clear example of that commitment.
Concluding the seminar, participants welcomed the initiative and called for similar programs to be organized in the future to further strengthen the professional capacity of journalists, foster the talents of writers and cultural activists, and support the development of young people.
