Nine-Day Capacity-Building Training Programme Launched for Journalists in Afghanistan's North-Eastern Region

 23 Muharram 1448 AH A nine-day capacity-building training programme aimed at enhancing the professional competencies and media skills of journalists from the provinces of Kunduz, Takhar, and Baghlan has commenced through a joint initiative of the Kunduz Directorate of Information and Culture and the Afghan Journalists Safety Committee. Twenty journalists are participating in the programme.
Welcoming the participants, Zia-ul-Haq Zahid, representative of the Afghan Journalists Safety Committee for the North-Eastern Region, said the primary objective of the programme is to strengthen journalists' professional capacity and further enhance their media expertise. He noted that the training focuses on the fundamentals of journalism, investigative reporting, and mobile journalism, intending to equip participants with practical skills and improve the quality of their reporting.
Mr. Zahid also emphasized the importance of continuous professional development for journalists and expressed hope that participants would make effective use of the training to enhance the quality of their journalistic work.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mawlawi Gul Mohammad Ilyas, Director of Information and Culture for Kunduz Province, welcomed the presentation of the programme and described it as an important initiative for strengthening journalists' professional capacities. He reaffirmed the Directorate's support for training and capacity-building programmes for the media community and encouraged participants to make the fullest use of the opportunity.
He further stated that, within its available resources, the Directorate of Information and Culture would continue its efforts to address the challenges facing local media outlets and support the improvement of their professional activities.
Participants also expressed their appreciation to the Kunduz Directorate of Information and Culture and the Afghan Journalists Safety Committee for organizing the programme. They highlighted the importance of continuing similar training initiatives, describing them as valuable opportunities for improving journalists' professional knowledge and practical skills.
The training programme will run over a period of nine days, with sessions held one day each week. Journalists from Takhar and Baghlan provinces are participating in the programme remotely through online sessions.
