Minister Safi Considers Establishment of AIWSN as key step towards women Empowerment
Acting Minister of Information and Culture Hasina Safi met yesterday with Indonesian foreign affairs minister Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi.
In a meeting of introduction of seven Afghan women as members of Afghanistan – Indonesia Women Solidarity Network, (AIWSN) acting minister of information and culture stressed on solidarity between the women of the two countries.
Recalling of achievements and developments of Afghan women in various sectors, acting minister of information and culture complimented close relations between the two countries.
“Role of women is very effective in peace process and Afghan women have taken active role in leading government and private institutions in the country and made effort to have effective part in peace process,” Safi said, adding that Afghanistan government wants to boost role of women in all sectors. Speaking on need of Indonesian support in sharing experiences, practical examples and Islamic values, acting minister of information and culture considered the establishment of Afghanistan – Indonesia Women Solidarity Network as a significant step towards codification of particular relevant advises to learning, health and empowerment of women. Afterwards, the Indonesian minister of foreign affairs Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi considered empowerment of women’s capacity as a key principle, adding that she sent a strong message in Doha that Indonesia does not want to see any set back in women’s rights and freedom in Afghanistan. At the end of the meeting, seven Afghan women were introduced as members of the Afghanistan – Indonesia Women Solidarity Network.
