Historical Buildings Damaged by the Earthquake are Being Restored in Herat Province

Sunday (17th of March, 2024), the Director of Information and Culture of Herat province Maulvi Ahmadullah Muttaqi met with the Head of the Aga Khan Foundation in Afghanistan, Ajmal Maiwandi.
During the visit, the Director of Information and Culture Maulvi Ahmadullah Muttaqi said that the I.E.A pays serious attention to the protection of historical sites, partner organizations should have continuous cooperation in the restoration of historical sites, he also emphasized on the speed of the reconstruction of the fifth minaret.
The head of the Aga Khan Foundation, Ajmal Maiwandi, said: “We are trying to restore the first-class historical buildings of Herat province. which will be specialized in the restoration of historical sites damaged by the earthquake.”
It is worth noting that Akhtaruddin Fort, Jama Masjid, Ghazargah Sharif and Minarets of Herat province are among the important historical sites, which have international fame.
