Afghan Film’s 52nd Anniversary Marked in Kabul

The 52nd founding anniversary of the Afghan Film was marked on Thursday with participation of government officials at the Directorate of the Afghan Film in Kabul.
The ceremony was also attended by the acting minister of Information and Culture, Mohammad Tahir Zuhair, the Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture, a number of filmmakers and cultural figures of the country. The acting Minister of Information and Culture, Mohammad Tahir Zuhair, spoke at the event, saying that the film industry has suffered the most during forty years of war and conflict.
The Acting Minister of Information and Culture stressed that Afghan Film must fulfill its national obligation to produce film and develop the film industry.
Acting Minister Zuhair described the development of the Afghan National Cinema Policy as one of the most important priorities of the Ministry of Information and Culture.
The Acting Minister of Information and Culture also added: "In the current world, everything, especially cinema, is changing; We must change the situation of Afghan film with a clear and effective solution and make a positive change in it. Meanwhile, Professor Mohammad Rasul Bawary, Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture of the Ministry of Information and Culture, also spoke about the history of the establishment of cinema in the country and said that cinema was established for the first time at the time of Shah Amanullah Ghazi. Bawari pointed to the ups and downs in the history of the country's cinema and emphasized that today the film industry in the country is developing.
The Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture considered the recent Afghan film initiatives as unprecedented in the history of the country’s cinema. Speaking on the occasion, Sahra Karimi, Director of Afghan Film, pointed to the problems of Afghan Film and said: "In the past year, we worked hard and mobilized Afghan Film, and despite all the shortcomings and difficulties, we were able to do important things to create mobility.”
At the ceremony, Mohammad Tahir Zuhair, Acting Minister of Information and Culture, and Mohammad Rasul Bawary Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture, handed over plaques of appreciations prepared by the Afghan Film leadership to a number of Afghan filmmakers and staff. Also on the sidelines of the ceremony, Mohammad Tahir Zuhair, Acting Minister of Information and Culture, inaugurated the Afghan Film Library.
