Azerbaijani Ambassador Visits Afghanistan’s National Gallery

The Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Afghanistan, Ilham Mohammadov, accompanied by the Consul of the Azerbaijani Embassy, visited the National Gallery of the Directorate of Fine Arts of the Ministry of Information and Culture in Kabul.
The visit was attended by Mawlawi Mohammad Lal Muneeb, Director of Fine Arts; Mohammad Shafiq Ahmadzai, Director of Foreign Relations; and the Cultural Attaché.
During his visit, Ambassador Mohammadov expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to tour the National Gallery and described its collection as significant and valuable. He highlighted the importance of art and artistic heritage in presenting Afghanistan’s rich cultural and historical legacy.
The Ambassador toured the gallery’s various halls and viewed works by renowned Afghan artists. He commended the contributions of Afghan artists, particularly in the field of painting, and recognized their role in advancing the country’s artistic tradition.
He described Afghanistan’s traditional and indigenous art forms, particularly calligraphy and miniature painting, as important expressions of Islamic culture and civilization. He also praised the work of Afghan artists, calligraphers, and miniature painters in carrying these traditions forward for future generations.
Ambassador Mohammadov emphasized the importance of caring for and promoting artistic and cultural works, noting that art can serve as an important means of fostering mutual understanding among nations and strengthening cultural ties between countries.
Mawlawi Mohammad Lal Muneeb, Director of Fine Arts, briefed the Azerbaijani Ambassador on the National Gallery’s history, activities, various sections, and collections. He described the gallery as one of Afghanistan’s important cultural and artistic institutions and a valuable part of the country’s national heritage.
He explained that the National Gallery is responsible for safeguarding and promoting the works of Afghan artists. Its collection, he noted, represents an important part of Afghanistan’s artistic history and reflects the taste, talent, and creativity of artists from different periods.
The Ambassador was also briefed on the National Gallery’s role in organizing individual and joint exhibitions and showcasing the works of Afghan artists.
THE  discuss the promotion of cultural and artistic heritage, support for traditional art forms, and the expansion of cultural cooperation and exchanges between Afghanistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan. Participants emphasized the role of cultural and artistic institutions in promoting national culture and identity and strengthening ties between artists and cultural figures from the two countries.
At the conclusion of the visit, Ambassador Mohammadov thanked the Directorate of Fine Arts for its hospitality and for providing him with an opportunity to explore the National Gallery’s collection. He described the continued care of the collection and its introduction to future generations as important.
