MoIC Marks 101st Independence Day in Kabul
A scientific seminar was held on the occasion of 101st anniversary of the country’s Independence Day to remember the cultural works of King Amanullah Khan.
In the seminar held jointly by the Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC), Afghanistan Sciences Academy and Kabul University and attended by a number of government officials and the country’s cultural and academic figures at Kabul Chehlstoon Palace, acting minister of information and culture Mohammad Tahir Zuhair congratulated the 101st anniversary of the country’s Independence Day to participants in the seminar and all the people of Afghanistan.
Speaking in the seminar, acting minister of information and culture said 101 years back in 1919, Afghanistan got its independence and King Amanullah Khan launched his programs for the economic, social and cultural development in the country as most of his programs had cultural nature, adding that his step towards cultural affairs had expanding dimensions at all, but little attention has been paid to his this expanding cultural face in the past 101 years.
“This year the ministry of information and culture has asked that cultural works of King Amanullah Khan should be reread during the 101st anniversary of the country’s Independence Day,” acting minister of information and culture said, recalling of the cultural phenomena as radio, cinema, library, expansion of publications, printing journals and publication of books.
He added that Bakhtar News Agency, which was considered as unprecedented news agency in neighboring and regional countries, was established 80 years ago in the country, stressing that collection of articles read out in the seminar would be published.
Afterwards, message of President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani was read out by president advisor Prof. Lal Pacha Azmoon. In his message, President Ghani has expressed happiness that the MoIC held a scientific seminar on the occasion of 101st anniversary of the country’s Independence to remember cultural works of King Amanullah Khan.
In the message, it was said that during the era of King Amanullah Khan, the country not only got its independence but also attention was paid to expansion of various sectors.
“King Amanullah Khan and his colleagues knew that for the protection of the country’s independence and real using of this word, it was necessary that efforts were to be made towards economic, political, social and cultural development,” the message said.
It was also said in the message based on this idea, cultural development was accelerated during King Amanullah Khan, media activities were expanded and step was taken for building new schools in each corner of Afghanistan; moreover, a number of students were dispatched to foreign countries for higher education and women movement started its work in the country.
Meanwhile, an academic member of the academy of sciences Ghulam Nabi Salahi read out the academy’s message, lecturer of Kabul University Zalmay Hotak read out message of the Kabul University and Zuhra Yousuf, representing the office of the country’s First Lady, congratulated the 101st anniversary of the country’s Independence to all the people of Afghanistan.
Afterwards, the seminar started its practical work after Ustad Habibullah Rafi as head, Ali Amiri as deputy and Rangina Asadi as secretary of the seminar.
At the end of the seminar, advisor to the MoIC Dr. Tariq Rishad read out the 8 – article resolution of the seminar. In the resolution, it was stressed that serious attention should be paid to introduction and renovation of the country’s historic monuments of the Amani’s era.
Meanwhile, acting minister of information and culture Mohammad Tahir Zuhair opened the handicapped and book exhibition of the MoIC on the occasion of 101st anniversary of the country’s independence in Chehlstoon historic garden.
