The Ministry of Information and Culture, through its Deputy Ministry for Publications Affairs and in cooperation with the Provincial Department of Information and Culture in Badghis, held a seminar aimed at strengthening journalists’ intellectual, religious and professional capacities.

Mawlawi Matiullah Muttaqi, Director of Information and Culture in Badghis, expressed his appreciation for organising the seminar and emphasised the importance of enhancing journalists’ intellectual, religious and professional capabilities.

Highlighting the need to counter ideological and cultural warfare, Muttaqi said that safeguarding and promoting Islamic and Afghan culture was not solely the responsibility of the government. He stressed that the media, religious scholars, poets, writers and other members of society also had an important responsibility in this regard. He further underscored the role of young people in academic, cultural and social development.

Mawlawi Muhajir Farahi, Deputy Minister for Publications Affairs, referred to Afghanistan’s historical experiences and the resistance of Afghans against foreign forces, emphasising the importance of intellectual independence, safeguarding religious and national values, and drawing lessons from the past.

Farahi said that all citizens, particularly young people, had a responsibility to contribute to the country's development and reconstruction. He identified education, dedication to work, unity among ethnic groups and respect for the country's diverse languages as important factors in Afghanistan’s progress.

He also called on media outlets to fulfil their responsibilities by raising public awareness, reporting on people's problems and concerns, and informing the public about the achievements of the system.

Mawlawi Safiullah Raed, Director of Mass Media, highlighted the challenges facing society and stressed the need to strengthen young people's intellectual and psychological preparedness. He identified reading, expanding knowledge and improving professional skills as essential requirements for the younger generation.

The head of the Western Zone Journalists' Safety Committee and other speakers also emphasised the importance of holding such programmes. They described access to information as an effective means of preventing rumours and misinformation and expressed their appreciation to media outlets in Badghis for their support and cooperation with the relevant authorities.
