Commission Inspects Signboards in Kabul's Eleventh District

The Signage and Advertising Board Reform Commission, under the Deputy Ministry of Publications at the Ministry of Information and Culture, inspected signboards and advertising displays in Qala-e-Najara Square in Kabul's Eleventh Municipal District.
During the visit, Qari Wali Gul Jawad, Director of Cultural Affairs at Kabul Municipality, addressed media representatives, business owners, and local residents on the importance of the content displayed on signboards and advertising boards. He emphasized that all signage and advertisements should be consistent with Islamic values, Afghan culture, and the country's national languages.
The commission subsequently carried out a comprehensive assessment of signboards and advertising displays throughout the area. Encouragingly, the majority of the signs and advertisements were found to comply with the standards and guidelines established by the Signage and Advertising Board Reform Commission.
Representatives of the Afghanistan Academy of Sciences and Kabul University also proposed appropriate equivalents in the country's national languages for a number of foreign terms and expressions used on signage. In addition, the commission issued recommendations to address other identified shortcomings, including the use of inappropriate images, improper placement of signs, unclear wording, and deteriorated or outdated signboards.
More than 250 signboards and advertising displays were reviewed during the field inspection.
