Officials from the Ministry of Information and Culture Attend ICESCO Meeting
Officials from the Ministry of Information and Culture participated in a scientific session focused on Islamic manuscripts, organized by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO).
The session, titled “The Realities and Aspirations of Islamic Manuscripts in Kazakhstan,” was held at the ICESCO headquarters and organized by its Center for Calligraphy and Manuscripts. Among the participants from Afghanistan were Qari Obaidullah Hanif, Director of the National Archives; Mohammad Shafiq Ahmadzai, Director of Foreign Relations; and a Cultural Attaché from the Ministry.
The purpose of the session was to examine the current status of Islamic manuscripts, explore preservation methods, and discuss how to utilize this heritage in contemporary research. The Director General of ICESCO described manuscripts as a fundamental pillar of human historical knowledge and emphasized the need for updating catalogues and enhancing scholarly cooperation.
Additionally, several Kazakh researchers discussed the significance of Islamic manuscripts, highlighting their linguistic diversity and current condition. At the end of the session, specialists explored potential opportunities for future collaboration in the field of Islamic manuscripts.
