On Sunday (2 Jumada al-Thani 1447 AH), the Minister of Information and Culture, Sheikh Shir Ahmad Haqqani, met with representatives of media organizations in his office to discuss the development, expansion, and challenges facing journalism and media in the country.

At the start of the meeting, Hafizullah Barekzai, the Head of the Afghan Journalists’ Union, stated that Afghanistan is the shared home of all Afghans and that every citizen must fulfill their national duty in their respective roles. Journalists and the media serve as a bridge between the nation and the government. They urged the Islamic Emirate to address issues faced by journalists in the country and to support them. They emphasized that journalists remain committed to Islamic and national values and that, by sharing factual information, they prevent the creation of an information vacuum that hostile groups could exploit. They also noted that the achievements of the Islamic Emirate have been highlighted in international media conferences.

Similarly, officials from these media organizations discussed in detail the situation of Afghan journalists, provincial media outlets, and the responsibilities and coordination of journalists and media under current conditions.

In his remarks, the Minister of Information and Culture, Sheikh Haqqani, stated that the current system is loyal to the country and prioritizes national interests. He added that an Islamic system is action-oriented. Media and governing systems work through mutual support. He affirmed that the Ministry of Information and Culture supports the media. A proposal to resolve issues related to electricity and frequency for media outlets has already been submitted to the Office of the Prime Minister, and media organizations will be informed once it is approved. The Minister also emphasized that the Ministry of Information and Culture functions as the national home for the media, with its doors always open to journalists and media organizations without restrictions.
