Largest National Flag Hoisted By Afghan Women in Kabul

The country’s largest national flag prepared by Afghanistan Women Network was hoisted on the occasion of 100th Anniversary of Afghanistan Independence on Wazir Akbar Khan hill the other day.
In a ceremony held on this occasion and attended by acting minister of information and culture Hasina Safi, head of Afghanistan Women Network Mary Akrami, daughters of King Amanuaalh Khan Princess Hindia and Princess Najia, deputy minister of refugees affairs Dr. Alema, advisor to the country’s First Lady Zuhra Yousuf and a large number of women activists, Princess Hindia spoke related to her mother Suraya’s achievements and said her mother did much for Afghan women as Afghanistan Women Movement was result of Queen Suraya’s services and works.
Princess Hindia also recalled of love and keen of King Amanullah Khan over homeland and development of Afghanistan, saying that the last word he mentioned during the last moment of his life was the home of ‘Afghanistan’.
In the ceremony, acting minister of information and culture Hasina Safi spoke and congratulated the initiative for preparing the largest flag to head and leading body of Afghanistan women Network.
“Afghanistan Women Network has always initiated in connection with various issues and this time the network by decorating and preparing the country’s national flag has shown its capability and recorded its role in the history for marking the 100th Anniversary of Afghanistan Independence,” Safi added.
Safi further said that the two coming key incidents that could change the future of Afghanistan were presidential elections and peace talks, adding that in both incidents women should play their significant role so that achievements obtained with blood of thousands of Afghans including women and children should be protected.
In the ceremony, deputy minister of refugees Dr. Alema deputy minister of women affairs Spozhmay Wardak, Mahbooba Saraj, Shafiqa Habibi and other spoke and highlighted role of women in the country.
