Historical artifact smuggling and illegal excavations have been prohibited in Afghanistan
On Saturday (Rabi'ul Awal 1446), the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaj Mulla Khairullah Khairkhah, addressed the (Cultural Union) meeting in St. Petersburg, Russia, which was attended by culture ministers from 40 nations.
In his address, Alhaj Mulla Khairullah Khairkhah stated that Afghanistan is the center of various civilizations, a country with diverse cultures, and cultural similarities with the region and neighboring countries. Due to the absence of a central government within the past 50 years with sovereignty over the entire territory, interactions have suffered greatly. As a result of wars and insecurity, Afghanistan's cultural heritage and ancient sites suffered significant damage during that period, while tourist attractions were ignored.
Mr. Khairkhah stated, "Hundreds of historical and ancient places have been restored, smuggling and illegal digging have been completely prevented, and stability and security of cultural heritage and historical places have received serious attention under the rule of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan." And the best tourism opportunities are provided for visitors from all around the world.
Alhaj Mulla Khairullah Khairkhah concluded by saying that these gatherings can help foster cultural diplomacy and improve ties between regional and global nations.
