The deputy minister of Arts and Culture Meets with UNESCO’s Cultural Director
The deputy minister of Arts and Culture of the Ministry of Information and Culture, Mawlawi Atiqullah Azizi, met with the Cultural Director of UNESCO. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Brendan, a UNESCO Director, and Dr. Yumuchi, a Japanese expert in historical and cultural affairs.
The deputy minister expressed his appreciation for the joint cultural cooperation and activities carried out by UNESCO and the Government of Japan. He noted that UNESCO’s cultural department is implementing numerous historical and cultural projects in Afghanistan, which are highly valuable for the preservation and strengthening of the country’s cultural heritage.
Mr. Azizi also extended special appreciation to Dr. Yumuchi, a cultural heritage specialist who has long been working in Afghanistan to protect and restore the nation’s historical and cultural assets.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the need to take effective steps toward the preservation and reconstruction of Afghanistan’s historical sites, the organization of cultural seminars, the expansion of artistic programs, and the enhancement of capacity within the cultural sector.
