Afghan Cultural Attaché in Turkey Meets Head of the Nation’s Library to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation
Qari Hamidullah Tamkin, the Cultural Attaché of Afghanistan’s Ministry of Information and Culture of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Turkey, held a meeting with Mr. Ayhan Tuğlu, Director of Turkey’s National Library. The discussion centered on strengthening cultural ties between Afghanistan and Turkey, as well as promoting collaboration in library and information services.
During the meeting, both parties highlighted the importance of cultural diplomacy and exchanged ideas on best practices for managing, expanding, and enriching libraries according to international standards.
Mr. Tuğlu emphasized the crucial role of cultural institutions and mentioned that the National Library is open 24 hours a day, serving diplomats, researchers, and international students. He also expressed willingness to support efforts to improve the capacity and development of public libraries in Afghanistan.
In response, Mr. Tamkin provided an overview of Afghanistan’s public library system, including its provincial branches, and shared plans for future growth. He also announced that the Ministry of Information and Culture will soon add new books and scholarly works to the Afghanistan section at the National Library.
