110 Ancient Cultural Sites have been Discovered in the Last three Years in Baghlan Province
A meeting was held in Baghlan province on cultural and heritage protection by the Management of Culture and Tourism of the Department of Information and Culture of Baghlan Province.
In the meeting, the Director of the Department of Information and Culture, Maulvi Asadullah Mustafa Hashemi said: “The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has discovered 110 new ancient and cultural sites in Baghlan Province and with this the total amount reaches 125.”
Hashemi assured that in the last three years, the ancient and cultural areas of this province have been protected and kept from being destroyed or looted, and the 012 security forces and local tribal leaders have been able to prevent the destruction of these valuable areas.
Maulvi Izzat Mir Haqqani, the Cultural and Tourism Manager, said: “Many ancient and cultural areas in this province were looted by local rulers, regional commanders and the invaders under different names during last year's occupation, and no attention was paid to them.”
Tribal leader Ashiq Rasool and Haji Abdul Ghaffar Tarakhel said that they are committed to preserving ancient monuments and cultural heritage and will try to cooperate with the Department of Information and Culture in identifying and preserving ancient and cultural areas.
