‘Protection of Historical sites MoIC’s main Responsibility’

Acting Minister of Information and Culture, Hasina Safi, met with head and members of Ghor Provincial council here yesterday, BNA reported.
Fazelhaq Ehsam Ghor provincial council head enumerated a number of their problems, including lack of asphalted roads, saying that the province had only 10km asphalted road, the agency quoted.
Hinting to a road crossing beside Zuhak village, Ehsan said the road was not asphalted since Zuhak village was located, asking the ministry to address the issue in close coordination with the ministry of transport, the agency added.
Acting Minister of Information and Culture said addressing people’s problems were at the top of her led ministry, adding that would soon instruct a delegation to address the issue, according to the agency.
Deputy Minister of cultural affairs, Prof. Mohammad Rasul Bawary said Zuhak village was a historical and archeological site, adding that the ministry did not allow destruction of the site, since protection of the cultural heritage and historical sites were the ministry’s main responsibility.
Meanwhile director of the historical monument department Abdul Ahad Abassi said there were no problem if the design of the road be changed slightly, as according to him enough space was available in the area. “Any activity that lead to destruction of the historical site is totally illegal,” the director said, as quoted by the agency.
