Three-Day Training on Fundamentals of Librarianship Begins
On Tuesday (23rd of Rabi’ al-Awwal 1447), the General Directorate of Public Libraries, Ministry of Information and Culture, in cooperation with the Directorate of Private Universities, launched a three-day training program titled “Introduction to the Fundamentals of Librarianship.” The program is designed to build the capacity of library managers from 25 private universities and is being held in the auditorium of the Public Libraries Directorate.
During the training, participants will learn about the basics of librarianship, cataloging, classification, labeling of books, as well as the ethics and responsibilities of librarianship.
Welcoming the attendees, Dr. Rafiullah Samim, Director of Public Libraries, said the directorate is committed to promoting a culture of reading, enhancing the skills of library staff, and improving the management of libraries across the country. He noted that there are currently 105 public libraries and dozens of private libraries operating nationwide, and encouraged participants to take full advantage of the program.
It is worth mentioning that the Public Libraries Directorate has previously organized a six-day training seminar for library officials, continuing its efforts to strengthen library services and professional development in this sector.
