The Director of Archaeology at the Ministry of Information and Culture visits Paktia Province

Engineer Zabihullah Sadat, the Director of Archaeology at the Ministry of Information and Culture, recently traveled to Paktia Province to inspect historical and archaeological sites.
During his visit, Director Sadat met with Paktia’s Governor, Haji Mehrullah Hamad, and the Director of Information and Culture for the province, Qazi sawab Jan Islamyar. As part of his trip, he toured Gardez Bala Hissar and several other historical sites in the region.
In discussions with the governor, Mr. Sadat emphasized the cultural and historical significance of these ancient sites, stating that preserving them is a national duty to ensure they remain intact for future generations. He requested local authorities and relevant institutions to take strong measures for their protection and oversight.
Additionally, Mr. Sadat assured that the Ministry, through its technical and professional teams, would conduct thorough research to document and classify Paktia’s historical sites, including Gardez Bala Hissar.
Furthermore, the Director of Archaeology visited the Paktia Department of Information and Culture, where he provided essential recommendations to the staff regarding the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage.
During the meeting, Qazi Sawab Jan Islamyar, the Director of Information and Culture, requested urgent restoration efforts for Gardez Bala Hissar and other historical sites in the province. He highlighted that many of Paktia’s archaeological sites remain undocumented and require special attention from the Ministry.
