A meeting was held regarding the problems of publishers and book sellers

A Meeting was held under the chairmanship of Moulavi Atiqullah Azizi, Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture of the Ministry of Information and Culture, in relation to the problems of booksellers and publishers in the said ministry, while the Acting Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Broadcasting, Mawlavi Ziaul Haq Haqmal, Director of Public Libraries, Qari Obaidullah Hanif, Director of Beyhaqi, Maulvi Abdul Halim Zhanwak, Copyright Manager Maulvi Hamad, Director of Office of the Ministry Muhammad Shafiq Ahmadzai, Director of Planning, Fida Muhammad Dost and the heads of these departments were also present.
At the beginning of the meeting, the problems of the publishers and booksellers were discussed, especially the tax on books and high taxes, the lack of a regular place and the market, and the existence of a single authority for issuing licenses were discussed in detail.
Moulvi Atiqullah Azizi, Deputy Minister of Art and Culture, said: “We call it our duty to provide the necessary facilities to publishers and booksellers. We are trying to hold effective meetings with the Ministry of Finance and Kabul Municipality and also provide them with the necessary administrative facilities within the framework of the Ministry of Information and Culture.”
The Deputy Minister of Culture has appointed a working committee from the relevant institutions to investigate and urgently solve these issues, and to submit a report to the next meeting.
