Herat Holds Scientific Conference on Intellectual Awareness, Islamic Values and Decree No. 17
The Herat Directorate of Youth Affairs held its second scientific conference under the theme “Intellectual Awareness, Strengthening Islamic Values, and Decree No. 17 of the Amir al-Mu’minin (may Allah preserve him).”
Addressing the conference, the Director of Youth Affairs in Herat said intellectual awareness among young people, understanding their religious and social responsibilities, and strengthening their Islamic identity are among the fundamental needs of the younger generation.
He described young people as an active force in society and said they have a responsibility to contribute to the reform and development of society by acquiring knowledge, pursuing education and reading, strengthening Islamic ethics, and making effective use of available opportunities.
He further emphasized the importance of strengthening unity and cohesion among young people, addressing intellectual and cultural challenges, and promoting responsible use of social media, noting that these issues require the serious attention of the younger generation.
Referring to Decree No. 17 of the Amir al-Mu’minin (may Allah preserve him), he said greater awareness among young people of decrees and regulations, as well as a clear understanding of their responsibilities in observing them, is important for maintaining order, strengthening responsibility, and promoting a sound social environment.
During the conference, young participants raised questions, shared their views and suggestions, and presented a range of issues for discussion and consideration.
A number of participating young people also called for the continuation and expansion of scientific and intellectual programmes and urged greater attention to youth-led initiatives and innovations.
Officials of the Directorate of Information and Culture said efforts are under way to expand scientific, intellectual, cultural and awareness-raising programmes for young people, with the aim of supporting their intellectual development, nurturing their talents, and creating opportunities for their constructive participation in society.
