The General Directorate of Public Libraries at the Ministry of Information and Culture conducted a one-day training seminar titled "Promoting the Culture of Reading" at the educational center of the Nangarhar Directorate of Information and Culture, with a huge number of youths participating.
During the seminar, Dr. Rafiullah Samim, the Head of Public Libraries, emphasized the importance and benefits of reading. He noted that for the country to progress and shield itself from harmful external influences, it is essential to foster a culture of reading within society. He urged everyone to work together to institutionalize this culture.
Dr. Samim highlighted that there are currently 109 public libraries operating across the nation under the Ministry of Information and Culture, and ongoing efforts are being made to standardize further and enhance these libraries.
Mawlawi Zabihullah Noorani, the Head of the Nangarhar Directorate of Information and Culture, also stressed that reading forms the foundation of a nation’s intellectual growth, academic strength, and brighter future. He encouraged young people to make books an inseparable part of their lives.
