On 18 Rabi’ al-Awwal 1448 AH, as part of its ongoing field activities, the Signage and Advertising Boards Reform Commission, affiliated with the Deputy Ministry of Publications of the Ministry of Information and Culture, inspected signs and advertising boards in the Baharistan area of Kabul’s 2nd District.
At the outset, Enamullah Amani, representative of the Kabul Municipality’s Directorate of Cultural Affairs, and members of the Commission briefed local shopkeepers, business owners and traders on the Commission’s mandate and activities.
The Commission then conducted a comprehensive assessment of signs and advertising boards in the area and issued recommendations for correcting non-compliant and substandard signage.
The Commission’s technical members also proposed appropriate alternatives in the national languages for foreign terms and expressions used on signs and advertising boards. Recommendations were further issued concerning signs that were outdated or damaged, contained inappropriate images, had been installed in unsuitable locations, or featured unclear or meaningless content, with a view to having them corrected.
