National Consultative Meeting on Implementation of 1954 Hague Convention Held

Kabul (BNA) Chaired by acting minister of information and culture Hasina Safi, national consultative meeting on implementation of the 1954 Hague Convention and its two protocols was held yesterday.
The 1954 Hague Convention and its protocols focuses on protection of cultural properties in armed disputes.  In the meeting held with participation of deputy minister of culture and art Prof. Mohammad Rasoul Bawary, deputy ministers of interior and justice, head of legal affairs for MoD, head of UNESCO office to Kabul, deputy of ICRC to Kabul and representatives of relevant organs, acting minister of information and culture said the meeting was aimed to prepare comprehensive program for protection of cultural heritages in areas where armed disputes were ongoing.
Acting minister of information and culture asked participants in the meeting to deliver their visions and suggestions to the session to be continuing for two days.
The acting minister of information and culture also asked MoD and MoI to inform MoIC when they plan military operations in areas in the country to protect cultural property.
Afterwards, deputy minister of police for interior Masoud Azizi, deputy minister of Justice Dr. Zakia Adeli, head of legal affairs for ministry of defense Nimatulalh Ahmadzai and representatives of UNESCO and ICRC spoke and enumerated their preparations in this regard.
