BNA, Xinhua Signs MoU on News Sharing

Kabul (BNA) Bakhtar News Agency, the country’s only official news agency, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chinese official Xinhua News Agency, under which, both media would exchange and share free news and photos within their own related areas. At the presence of Deputy Minister of Information and Culture, Fazel Sancharaki, the Chinese head of Asia and Oceania of the Xinhua News Agency and director of Bakhtar News Agency, Khalil Minawi signed the MoU.
During the ceremony held on the occasion and attended by the Kabul based Xinhua Chief, deputy to the Chinse Ambassador to Kabul and Hamidullah Arefi, the Editor-in-Chief of Kabul Times, Deputy to the Ministry of Information and Culture on publication affairs, Fazel Sancharaki briefed information about the past relation of Afghanistan and China and called China Afghanistan’s powerful neighbor. He said the multilingual BNA has had up to 80 years of work background and that other government-run dailies use the stories of covered by the agency. The Chinese head of Asia and Oceania also spoke on the occasion and said his country’s official news agency had agencies and reports in more than 150 countries of the world.
