Deputy Minister Tourism, Administration and Finance
Zardasht Shams currently serves as Deputy Minister Tourism,
Administration and Finance, Ministry of Information and Culture
Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
Mr. Shams has nearly fifteen years of work experience in cultural, political, public affairs and development areas with Government and international organizations. He has served as Acting Secretary General of Afghan National Commission for UNESCO and ISESCO, Cultural Attaché at Afghanistan Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan and Director of Planning and External Affairs of the Ministry of Information and Culture.
Furthermore, Mr. Shams has worked with United States Agency for International development Afghanistan, United Nations World Food Programme, and Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK).
Mr Shams has represented his country in several international conferences and events such as UNWTO 22nd General Assembly held in Medellin, Colombia in September, 2015 and ISESCO Ministerial Meeting on Culture held in Baku, Azerbaijan in December, 2009.
Mr Shams holds Masters in Agriculture and is currently working on his Doctorate in Development Studies. He has written several articles on political, cultural, social and regional issues.
